“I joined Mazuma because I recognized the huge potential that this amazing organization had to make an even greater impact on all of the communities we’re here to serve,” Christensen said in a statement. “I’ve been fortunate to be able to see that strong foundation being built, and I’m excited for this next chapter.”

In May Christensen was promoted from chief operations officer to chief experience officer. She also oversaw the transition after Mazuma’s previous CEO, Brandon Michaels, left the institution in August.

“After a difficult selection process, we are confident that Deonne will lead Mazuma along a path to a stronger, more effective organization.” Russ Petry, a board member, said in a press release.

The $650 million-asset credit union was established in 1948 and now serves over 63,000 members. Those residing in Cass, Clay and Jackson counties within Missouri and Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas are eligible for membership.
