NCUA offers grants for credit unions damaged by Hurricane Florence

The National Credit Union Administration will provide urgent needs grants to credit unions with low-income designations damaged during Hurricane Florence.

Credit unions may apply for up to $7,500 to repair and replace damaged property, machinery and equipment, NCUA said in a press release on Monday. The funds may also be used to resume operations, such as reconstructing data or re-establishing network systems.

Florence hit the East Coast earlier this month, causing extensive damage and flooding in the Carolinas.
The funds can only be used to pay for damage that isn’t covered by an insurance policy.

Credit unions can apply for the grant through the NCUA’s CyberGrants management system. Severely affected credit unions may contact their NCUA examiners to apply. Applicants should receive approval within two weeks of applying.
