BELLEVILLE, Ill. – Two robbers, a married couple, turned themselves in to authorities before they left the Scott CU branch they had just robbed, according to Belleville police.
The pair entered the branch at about 10 a.m. Thursday and demanded money from a teller, who gave them an unidentified amount of cash out of the drawer, according to police. Then they went into the manager’s office and asked her to call police.
Police responded to the credit union and arrested the couple.
Jeffery Bell, 56, and Rita Bell, 58, were charged with robbery Friday, police said.
Neither Bell previously had been charged with anything more than a petty or traffic offense.
