Tech News Briefs: OSI Hosts Exec Forum; Adds New CU Clients

Open Solutions Inc. hosted more than 40 senior executives during a Credit Union CEO/Directors Forum here. The meeting brought together the key leaders of Glastonbury, Conn.-based Open Solutions' senior management team as well as credit union clients in an effort to foster a greater degree of communication, to solicit feedback and to discuss industry trends, the company said. Addison Avenue FCU in Palo Alto, Calif. co-hosted the event.

Meanwhile, OSI reported it has launched a POS IP Gateway through its Open Solutions Canada Payment Solutions Group. The POS IP solution expands the company's offering to deliver credit and debit transaction processing in quick service and multi-lane environments in Canada. Open Solutions Canada runs Canada's largest off-premise ATM network and its largest processor of independent POS terminal transactions.

In the U.S., Dyess FCU has selected Open Solutions' The Complete Credit Union Solution as its core data processing platform. The $84-million DFCU serves 14,000 members via a community charter, but also serves its original core sponsor, Dyess Air Force Base. OSI reported that DFCU looked at four other systems prior to seeing a demonstration of The Complete Credit Union Solution. In addition to The Complete Credit Union Solution, DFCU will also be implementing Open Solutions' consumer loan origination; the Financial Management Suite (general ledger, fixed assets, accounts payable); cView (Report Wizard, My Vision, Activity Manager, Market Vision); forms automation; premium overdraft protection; asset collection management; the safe deposit box module; online ATM and debit; Speech Recognition/Bilingual Voice Response System; and COLD and document imaging applications.

Also selecting OSI for the same solution was the $151-million Garden Savings FCU in Parsippany, N.J.

OSI also reported that it has entered into a strategic reseller partnership with R Systems Inc., an information technology and business process outsourcing company. The partnership with R Systems will further expand Open Solutions' presence in the international market.
