The platform and cloud-based service provide banking customers with authentication services intended to help banks meet the newly mandated Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council regulations about online banking security, ActivIdentity said on Tuesday.

According to the company, its appliance provides more than 15 FFIEC-compliant multifactor authentication methods. Its fraud detection service combines device identification with the user’s password or PIN for two-factor authentication. If device identification anomalies are detected, policy can require additional FFIEC compliant authentication method, such as SMS text message or email to the smart phone.

ActivIdentity, headquartered in Fremont, Calif., is part of HID Global.
