The Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta said Wednesday that it had hired Richard Dorfman, a mortgage consultant, as its president and chief executive.
He will start his new job June 20 and will succeed William Ott, who has been the Atlanta bank's interim CEO since Raymond Christman stepped down in late January.
Scott Harvard, the Atlanta bank's chairman, said in a press release that Mr. Dorfman "understands mortgage finance, has a strong executive management background, and can combine these elements with his deep and thorough understanding of government-sponsored enterprises and the U.S. agency market."
Mr. Dorfman has been a consultant to several Federal Home Loan banks. From 1997 until 2005 he had been the managing director of U.S. agencies and mortgages at ABN Amro Holding NV. Before that he had worked at Lehman Brothers from 1983 to 1996.
