BB&T to Use Fiserv for Remote Deposit Capture

BB&T (BBT) of Winston-Salem, N.C., will use Fiserv's (FISV) mobile capture technology to allow its customers to deposit checks from home.

The $174.8 billion-asset bank also will use Fiserv's branch source capture to streamline the balancing of check deposits in its back office and merchant source capture for check deposits from its business customers. These products allow BB&T to detect duplicate deposits from smartphones, Fiserv, based in Brookfield, Wis., said Thursday.

"By offering anytime, anywhere check deposits, BB&T moves mobile banking beyond the most common banking functions," Patricia Kinney, BB&T mobile banking manager, said in a news release. "This new capability adds value to our mobile banking clients and helps grow this important, untapped market."
