BB&T's King Named to Fed Council

Kelly S. King, the chairman and chief executive of BB&T (BBT), has been appointed to the Federal Advisory Council.

King was appointed to a one-year term, which begins Jan. 1, by the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, BB&T said Friday. BB&T has assets of $176 billion and is based in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The Federal Advisory Council includes representatives from each of the Federal Reserve's 12 districts. King will represent the fifth district.

The council periodically consults with the Federal Reserve Board on business conditions and issues related to the banking industry. It also makes recommendations regarding system policies.

King served on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond from 2009 to 2011.
