Berkshire Hills Bancorp Combines CEO, Chairman Roles

Berkshire Hills Bancorp (BHLB) in Pittsfield, Mass., has given Michael Daly, its president and chief executive, the added title of chairman.

Daly will succeed Lawrence Bossidy as the $5.5 billion-asset company's chairman. Bossidy will remain on the board as its lead independent director, the company said Monday. The changes will take place on Jan. 1.

Daly joined Berkshire Hills in 1986 and became president and CEO of the company and its bank in October 2002.

Bossidy joined the board as chairman in 2002; he serves on the compensation and corporate governance/nominating committees. He has also been the chairman and CEO of Honeywell International and AlliedSignal.

Berkshire Hills also announced that Catherine B. Miller had retired from the board. She has been on the bank's board for nearly 30 years and had joined the company's board in 2000.
