BNY Mellon Hires Watson as COO

BNY Mellon has named a former Fannie Mae executive to its newly-created position of chief operations officer.

Edward Watson will report to Kurt D. Woetzel, BNY Mellon’s head of global operations and technology and chief administrative officer.

"Ed's new role is key to driving operational excellence across our global organization," Woetzel said in a news release on Thursday. "In addition to leading the centralization of certain operations, Ed will oversee operational activities in our global delivery centers and have responsibility for operations functions that today reside in our businesses."

Watson, 51, was most recently executive vice president for operations, technology and general services for Fannie Mae. At Fannie Mae, he was responsible for development, infrastructure and operations services across the firm. He also was in charge of corporate facilities and security.
