CTS North America will provide additional security features through its scanners to branch technology provider BLM Technologies for customers who face a high potential for check fraud, such as payday lenders and healthcare service providers.

CTS's integrated ID card scanner can verify the authenticity of both the customer and the cashier, preventing fraudulent payments and providing a full audit trail of each transaction, CTS said Tuesday.

"BLM is dedicated to providing our customers with cost-effective, single source information technology solutions from the industry’s top providers," Ron Meinhardt, president of BLM, said in a news release. "For certain industries however, scanning a check is just the beginning of their needs, which is why we partnered with CTS North America. CTS’s multi-function scanners can combine check capture with other enabling capabilities."

BLM provides end-to-end branch technology through hardware and service options. CTS provides check capture and cash handling services to the financial services industry.

"As remote deposit capture becomes more prevalent, fraudsters are finding new ways to pass bad checks at the point of capture," Glen Fossella, chief operating officer of CTS North America, said in the same news release. "Our engineers anticipated this development and integrated ID card scanning—even in our lowest cost check scanners—to support fraud prevention applications."
