Central Pacific Plans California Exit

Central Pacific Bank is quitting California.

The Honolulu unit of Central Pacific Financial Corp., which has suffered heavy losses on West Coast construction loans, said Thursday that it would wind down operations there by 2012.

The bank said it has 18 employees in California but did not specify how many offices it operates there. Its intent is to "fully concentrate" on its home state, Migita said.
