Community Banker Garrett Hops Aboard BillFloat

BillFloat Inc., a provider of credit and underwriting services, has hired a community banking veteran as a senior advisor.

Brian Garrett will help broaden BillFloat's banking strategy and marketing, the San Francisco company said on Wednesday. He will oversee its relationships with traditional financial institutions.

BillFloat provides alternative consumer credit by paying customers' bills for a processing fee plus interest. It currently offers this service in conjunction with more than 2,500 billers and online retailers nationwide.

During his 40-year career, Garrett has served as chief executive of four community banks, including most recently the Community Bank of the Bay in Oakland, Calif. He was a co-founder of two start-up community banks.
