Technology and compliance firm Compushare has released software meant to improve the security of mobile devices.
The Mobile Device Management system, announced Thursday, represents the expansion of Compushare's Total Desktop Management Solution to mobile devices. The program is intended to provide greater visibility, control and protection of smartphones and other devices that are connected to a company's corporate network.
The Mobile Device Management system includes four types of security controls: password restrictions, device restrictions, standardization features and application controls. The program is intended to help companies mitigate the security risks that companies face when their employees access company data on their personal mobile devices.
"Our new MDM Solution is a result of the demands coming from financial institutions and will allow for a cost effective way to protect against the risks of lost or stolen devices with access to corporate data, the use of portable devices to transport sensitive information, accessing company information when an employee leaves the institution, and the subversion of policy through jailbreak and root techniques," said Kevin Prince, Compushare's chief technology officer, in the news release.
