Data Center Group Develops Models for Security, Virtual Machines

The Open Data Center Alliance has released five new usage models focused on security and virtualization, as well as an overview document on identity management in the cloud.

The user-driven requirements are based on cloud computing challenges faced by Alliance member organizations, the independent IT consortium said Wednesday. The usage models build on the Alliance’s plan to define IT requirements for open, interoperable cloud computing solutions, the group said.

Four of the usage models and the overview document target security. The security usage models are meant to drive interoperability between identity management and access management systems that allow users to utilize resources in the cloud.

The fifth usage model focuses on long distance virtual machine migration.
