Datacard Group, which makes instant card-issuance technology, announced Monday that it made an investment in DeviceFidelity Inc.
DeviceFidelity's technology loads payment information onto smartphones, a key component of many mobile wallet systems. As a part of the deal, Datacard, of Minnetonka, Minn., will sell DeviceFidelity's products.
Datacard is best known for its CardWizard instant-issuance software that works with magnetic-stripe cards, chip cards and contactless cards.
The firm Dallas Venture Partners is also investing in DeviceFidelity. Datacard did not disclose the size of either investment in its announcement.
"DeviceFidelity continues to drive the development of [near-field communication]-enabled technology and Datacard Group has extensive expertise in card issuance and smart-card personalization," said Deepak Jain, DeviceFidelity's chief executive, in a press release.
