Online and mobile payments company eWise said on Tuesday that it had appointed Alexandre Gonthier as chief executive in addition to making changes to its board.
Phillip Riese is now the board chairman and Eric Archambeau was named as a director of the company. Alex Grinberg, eWise's founder, will continue as a director of the company and as executive vice president and general manager for global account aggregation and personal financial management.
Gonthier co-founded in 1997 the company iPIN then a decade later helped start Paymo/Boku. He subsequently joined Wellington Partners, a venture capital firm, to focus on the payments sector.
With 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, Riese spent 18 years at American Express Co. in a variety of leadership positions. He retired in 1998 as president of the consumer card services group.
Since 2005, Archambeau has served as a general partner with Wellington Partners with a focus on digital media, software and electronics.
