PrivateBancorp Inc. of Chicago said Thomas N. Tuttle Jr. has been hired as the head of wealth management services and a managing director of PrivateBank Wisconsin, a Milwaukee unit it plans to open for business by January.

Mr. Tuttle was a vice president and a director of wealth management at Marshall & Ilsley Trust Co. of Milwaukee, the private bank of Marshall & Ilsley Corp.

He had worked for it for nine years.

PrivateBancorp has $2.2 billion of assets.


FirstMerit Corp. of Akron has hired Michael Benson as the head of small-business banking and a senior vice president.Mr. Benson will oversee relationships with Ohio and western Pennsylvania companies in with sales of as much as $5 million.

He was the northeast Ohio small-business banking manager for National City Bank. He has 20 years of banking and financial services experience.

FirstMerit Corp. owns the $10.4 billion-asset FirstMerit Bank.


MIDDLE ATLANTICGreene County Bancorp in Catskill, N.Y., has named Arthur Place, the senior partner of the Albany accounting firm Arthur Place & Co., as a director.

The $285 million-asset company also named him to its audit committee as a financial expert, in compliance with new Securities and Exchange Commission rules and Nasdaq listing standards.

Mr. Place also joined the boards of Greene County Bancorp's Bank of Greene County and Greene County Commercial Bank.

Independent Bank Corp. of Rockland, Md., has hired Jane L. Lundquist as the director of retail banking and corporate marketing at its $2.8 billion-asset Rockland Trust Co.

She has also been named an executive vice president of Rockland Trust.

Ms. Lundquist was the president of Port Financial Corp. and the president and chief operating officer of its Cambridgeport Bank in Cambridge, Mass.

(Citizens Financial Group Inc., a Royal Bank of Scotland unit, bought Port Financial last year.)

Commercial National Financial Corp. of Latrobe, Pa., has named Bruce A. Robinson to its board.

Mr. Robinson is the general manager of Laurel Valley Golf Club of Ligonier.

Commercial National owns the $420 million-asset Commercial Bank of Pennsylvania, Commercial National Insurance Services Inc., and Highview Trust Co.


WESTBusiness Bank of Nevada in Las Vegas said growth induced it to split the job of chief operating officer Larry Charlton and give part to former Ohio banker David Kellerman.

The $309 million-asset unit of Business Bank Corp. hired him as chief financial officer and an executive vice president.

Mr. Kellerman was the CFO of Second Bancorp in Warren and its Second National Bank of Warren.

He was also the treasurer of the holding company, for which he had worked 23 years; Sky Financial Group Inc. bought it July 1. - Christopher Wood
