HSBC Bank USA plans to offer a free fraud prevention device to online banking customers.
The HSBC device will generate a unique security code for customers to use each time they log in to the bank's website, according to a Tuesday press release. The bank plans to begin distributing the device to customers who "engage in all but the most routine online banking transactions" at the end of the second quarter, according to the release.
Customers will be able to carry the device in their wallets or opt to download it as a mobile application.
