The Armonk, N.Y.-based company said Monday in a news release that it has introduced the next generation of its social networking platform, IBM Connections. The software integrates wikis, blogs, email and calendaring. It flags relevant data for action. It allows for collaboration and the ability to build social communities inside and outside an organization. Additionally, the software integrates social networking with enterprise content management.

The new version of the software announced this week incorporates analytics, real-time data monitoring and collaborative networks through IBM's SmartCloud services.

IBM said that the new IBM SmartCloud for Social Business simplifies access to business-grade file sharing, social networking communities, online meetings, instant messaging, email and calendars. It also will have a cloud-based productivity suite to allow users to co-edit documents in real-time.

New clients using this social software and cloud collaboration services include Kraft, Electrolux, MIT Lincoln Labs, Colgate-Palmolive and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida.
