HSA Clearing, a company that sets up banks and credit unions to offer Health Savings Accounts, has announced an agreement with Credit Union Group of Lawrence, Kan., to make the product available to its members.
Credit Union Group's affiliates are Free State Credit Union, Kansas City Metropolitan Credit Union, Colgate-Palmolive Employees Credit Union, and Employees Credit Union of Puritan Bennett.
Robert Oderkirk, the president of Free State's business and financial services unit, said in a press release last week that the agreement would let the insurance division market the high-deductible health plans that accompany HSAs. The latter allow people to save money tax-free to cover medical expenses not covered by their high-deductible plans.
HSA Clearing offers credit unions and banks a turnkey HSA setup program that lets funds in the accounts be deposited locally.
