Independence Bank in Ohio Names Goodman President, CEO

Lewis M. Goodman has been elected president and chief executive officer of Independence Bank, Independence, Ohio.

Mr. Goodman joins the bank from Provident Bank, where he was regional vice president in charge of northeastern Ohio since 1992.

He brings over 27 years of experience in commercial lending and development to Independence Bank. In addition to Provident, he spent 10 years with National City Bank as vice president in the Metro/Ohio division. He began his banking career at Union Commerce Bank in 1960 and later joined Capital National Bank, where he was named vice president in 1968.

Sherman B. Kelly has been elected senior vice president and senior lending officer of Independence Bank.

Mr. Kelly joins Independence after a 36-year career with Huntington Bank/Union Commerce Bank. At Union Commerce he held a number of positions and in 1970 originated and managed the bank's executive financial services business. In 1977 he formed the energy loan division and oversaw a growing portfolio. He was promoted to senior vice president in 1981. Mr. Kelly left Huntington in 1990 to start a consulting business.
