M&T Bank in Buffalo is now offering customized account alerts to its digital banking customers.
Customers can receive the alerts through text messages, emails or notifications through the bank's mobile app, M&T, a unit of M&T Bank Corp. (MTB), said Monday.
The alerts can be set up to notify customers about low or high account balances, when a large withdrawal or deposit has been posted and if a PIN has been changed. Customers can also receive daily or weekly updates about account balances and be alerted when a specific check has cleared.
Additionally, customers can be alerted when a purchase using an M&T Visa Check Card is completed without the card being presented to a retailer such as online or on the phone. The bank's customers can set up a "do not disturb" time in which M&T will not send text alerts.
"Our customers have told us how important online tools are to manage their finances and our new alerts gives them more direct control of their finances right at their fingertips," Mike Shryne, senior vice president for alternative banking at M&T, said in a news release. "We believe that empowering our customers by giving them options and convenience is consistent with M&T's commitment to understanding what's important to our customers."
