MasterCard Charity to Train Microfinance Execs

MasterCard Inc.'s independent charitable unit, the MasterCard Foundation, has introduced a program to train microfinance executives around the world.

The credit card company's Toronto unit announced its Scholar Program on Wednesday; it has awarded $600,000 in grants to six microfinance training institutes in several countries. The money is to be used to fund 200 scholarships for staff members working in the microfinance field, it said.
