Michigan Bank Implements Wire Transfer Fraud Prevention Measures

United Bank & Trust of Ann Arbor, Mich., has expanded its use of PhoneFactor to its business customers to help prevent online fraud.

With PhoneFactor, when an ACH or wire transfer is submitted through United Bank's online portal, an automated phone call is placed to the customer. The customer then enters a PIN to complete the transaction if it is legitimate.

The transaction is verified through an out-of-band telephone call, protecting it against ZeuS and other malware targeting online banking transactions, PhoneFactor said Wednesday.

The $913 million-asset United Bank previously used PhoneFactor internally to secure employee remote access.
