Monitise, RBS Extend Mobile Banking Deal

Monitise announced on Wednesday that it entered into a new five-year deal with RBS Technology Services under which the bank will continue to use the vendor's platform to provide secure mobile apps to customers. A month ago, RBS and Monitise rolled out an iPad app, and the bank already offers text-message-based banking from Monitise.

With further integration of Monitise's technology platform within the bank, RBS customers will be offered new real-time smartphone services as new devices and operating systems develop. The new contract covers all RBS Group divisions including RBS and NatWest UK Retail, Citizens Bank US, Ulster Bank and RBS Global Corporate and Business.

Will Jones, the general manager for Monitise's RBS partnership, said in a statement that the new apps were developed on the Monitise platform as part of a partnership project with RBS called Quantum Leap.
