The consulting and systems firm opened its first office in Luxembourg on Tuesday, it announced. This location will offer consulting services with a focus on European fund service providers and buy-side institutions.

This is NRI's third office in Europe, after London and Moscow, a spokeswoman said.

"With enhanced regulatory demands in the European market, financial institutions have a greater need for operational efficiency and support," said NRI President Europe Koji Hashimoto in the news release. "Our clients in this region will benefit from the added on-the-ground support and local access to our global compliance expertise."

NRI, which does most of its business in Japan, has recently been expanding throughout Asia and is looking to enter the U.S. market. It is #9 on the 2012 FinTech 100 ranking of technology companies that serve the financial services industry.
