WASHINGTON — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has named Morris Morgan the large bank deputy comptroller, the agency announced in a press release Monday.
Morgan, who currently serves as the examiner-in-charge for PNC, will transition into the role over the next several weeks. He will fill the vacancy left after former deputy comptroller Joe Evers retired in November.
In his new role, Morgan will lead the exam teams at a portfolio of large banks and thrifts, as well as the data analytics team, the OCC said.
Morgan first joined the OCC in 1985, examining banks in the Southwest district. He joined the large bank supervision unit in 1999 and was assigned to the Bank of America exam team where he held team leader roles covering capital markets, asset management and commercial credit.
"He brings nearly 30 years of bank supervision experience to his new role and will make an important contribution as a member of our team leading the supervision of our country's largest and most complex banks," Mike Brosnan, the OCC's senior deputy comptroller for large bank supervision, said in the press release.
