Payments Firm Heartland Picks Alaric for Fraud Defense

Heartland Payment Systems has chosen Alaric's fraud-prevention system.

The payments firm will begin using Alaric's Fractals system to monitor its more than 300 million card transactions per month, the companies announced Wednesday. Heartland provides transaction processing, ecommerce and payroll services to more than 250,000 clients in the U.S.

Fractals is a fraud-prevention system designed for payment processors, card issuers and online merchants. It allows fraudulent payments to be cancelled before the transactions are completed, and includes an engine that lets analysts put in place new fraud-prevention rules within minutes.

"From our first conversations, Alaric showed true willingness to meet our requirements," said Georgia Stavrakis, Heartland's director of loss prevention, in the news release. "Fractals was selected because of its strong analytics and modeling capabilities, the ease by which it could be integrated into the existing environment, and Alaric's expertise at delivering highly-effective fraud solutions."
