Payments processor Pivotal Payments has partnered with NetSecure Technologies to develop a mobile payment application for smartphones and tablets.
The app, which will be released in Canada during the second quarter and later in the U.S., will allow merchants to swipe, authorize and settle credit card transactions without the use of hardwired terminals, Pivotal Payments said Tuesday.
Merchants will be able to accept card payments with a cellular-connected mobile device such as an iPhone, Blackberry, Android or iPad by using an encrypted card swiper that connects to the audio port. Pivotal Payments will offer this service through its own sales channels and through its 1,500 partners in the U.S. and Canada. NetSecure provides mobile and ecommerce products.
