ABN Amro Inc. of Chicago announced last week that it named two executives to lead a growing insurance effort.

Kathleen M. Wilcox, 48, was named president and chief executive officer of ABN Amro Insurance Services Inc. Barbara E. Seanor, 50, was named executive vice president and chief operating officer. Both posts are newly created.

The two executives had worked together for three years at First Chicago Insurance Services before joining ABN Amro in recent months. Before First Chicago, both had worked for Chubb Insurance Group.

At First Chicago, Ms. Wilcox said, she became a believer in the ability of banks to market insurance. "I just ended up buying the whole concept," she said.

Ms. Wilcox said she has already added a couple of other First Chicago veterans to ABN Amro's insurance effort.

She will report to Alger B. "Duke" Chapman, vice chairman of ABN Amro Chicago Corp., and Richard D. Starr, vice chairman of ABN Amro Insurance Services.

Mr. Starr said Ms. Wilcox had the mix of insurance and bank sales experience that ABN Amro wanted.

ABN Amro's subsidiaries have sold insurance for nearly 10 years in the United States and even longer in Europe.

The bank operates in the United States through three subsidiaries - LaSalle National Bank of Chicago; Standard Federal Bank of Troy, Mich.; and European American Bank of Uniondale, N.Y.
