Socialwise Inc. is furthering promotion of its BillMyParents alternative payment system through a partnership with the skateboarding star Rob Dyrdek.
The payment system, which allows teens to initiate purchases online that can be completed only with their parents' approval, is featured in a Monday night episode of Dyrdek's MTV program, "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory."
Dyrdek has worked with Socialwise since April 2010 to promote the alternative payment product, which launched in 2009. In February, Dyrdek signed a multiyear contract to become its brand ambassador.
The Monday episode of Dyrdek's show features a guest appearance by Dyrdek's mother to emphasize parents' role in their kids' financial education. "This is one of the biggest brand integrations I've ever done," Dyrdek said in a press release Monday. "Being the brand ambassador for BillMyParents gives me the opportunity to meaningfully help teens and actually build the foundation of someone's future success."
Socialwise, which is in the process of changing its name to BillMyParents Inc., said this weekend was the first time the BillMyParents Spend Smart card, a MasterCard-branded prepaid card, was advertised on television.
