SunTrust Banks Inc. of Atlanta is using software from Metavante Technologies Inc. to offer payment processing services to health-care providers.
The Milwaukee banking technology vendor said Tuesday that SunTrust has installed Metavante's HealthGateway application as an addition to the banking company's eClaim Revenue Gateway service.
eClaim Revenue Gateway helps health-care providers manage claims, including determining eligibility, submitting requests for payments, processing incoming funds, and reconciliation.
The SunTrust service combines its own receivables management capabilities with Metavante's payments system; HealthGateway has electronic payment connections to more than 1,200 payers.
John Reynolds, the division president for Metavante health-care payment solutions, said in a press release that health-care providers must interact with many insurance plans, and that "part of Metavante's mission to better connect patients, providers, and payers is to eliminate concepts like 'disparate processes' and 'multiple vendors' from healthcare."
