Cathay United Bank Ltd., Taiwan's second-largest issuer of credit cards, said last week that it will let its cardholders convert their bonus points into miles under a joint promotion program with China Eastern Airlines Corp.

The agreement was announced a day before regular weekend chartered flights between Taiwan and China were scheduled to start.
Cathay United cardholders can also use China Eastern Airlines' VIP rooms at airports in Shanghai and Beijing.
Cathay United is owned by Cathay Financial Holding Co., Taiwan's largest financial services company.
