TCF Adding ATMs for Visually Impaired

TCF Financial Corp. is planning to install automated teller machines with voice capabilities to improve access to its banking services for visually impaired customers.

The Wayzata, Minn., company said Wednesday that its TCF Bank retail unit will begin deploying the machines within nine months and that it expects to have "hundreds" of them in place at branches by the end of next year.

The "talking ATMs" provide audio information to ATM users through a headset.

TCF also plans to introduce other services for the visually impaired, including monthly statements in Braille or large print.
