The New Zealand financial company PSIS has hired Unisys Corp. to overhaul its systems.

The Blue Bell, Pa., banking technology vendor announced a four-year contract Wednesday to install hardware and software aimed at increasing efficiency and improving customer service for the Wellington financial company.

Unisys said it plans to install two ClearPath mainframes and its ePortal software to run on them, as well as several other infrastructure projects. The first financial applications that are scheduled to be installed at PSIS are a lending module and a new core processing system.

Unisys said that it plans to use service-oriented architecture technology throughout PSIS as it revamps its systems. SOA systems are designed to share data easily, which boosts efficiency and makes it easier to install new modules.

It began delivering the first components in October. PSIS has been a Unisys customer for 40 years.
