Adyen has developed encryption software that protects payment data for consumers shopping online through desktop or mobile devices.

The software also encrypts payment data over native mobile apps though a simple library integration, the Netherlands-based global multichannel payment software provider announced Dec. 5.

Easy Encryption Solution enables merchants to offer end-to-end security for customers worldwide, encrypting the customer’s payment data from the Web browser or app until it reaches Adyen’s servers, the company says.

Adyen says its software “takes on the burden” of managing cardholder data and encryption, removing the need for the payment to be routed through the merchant’s server. The end-to-end encryption reduces costs involved with meeting and monitoring Payment Card Industry data security compliance.

The encryption solution offers a secure checkout experience globally for the increasing number of online merchants across sectors such as ticketing, travel, consumer services, retail and social networking who sell to customers through native apps, Adyen says.

The solution allows merchants to use their own payment pages to connect with Adyen’s Payment Platform and accept card payments in 187 currencies in addition to alternative payment methods.

“With Adyen’s Global Card Encryption, security-conscious merchants finally have a payments solution that protects their customers' financial data across all device types,” Roelant Prins, CCO at Adyen, states in a press release.

Adyen says it supports all sales channels, including online, mobile and point-of-sale, processing 227 different payment methods, 187 transaction currencies and 14 settlement currencies used across six continents.

Two months ago, Adyen and Revel Systems partnered to offer mobile payments throughout Europe, with Revel’s iPad-based POS and the Adyen mobile card reader.
