Wireless transactions provider Apriva and payment technology services company Global Payments have teamed up to release a white-label EMV mobile payment offering.
The deal will make Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Apriva's mobile payments technology, called AprivaPay Plus, available to Atlanta-based Global Payments' U.S. clients. The offering allows Apple and Android devices to function as mobile points of sale and is aimed at small and mid-sized merchants.
In addition to providing mobile card acceptance functionality, AprivaPay Plus also allows for EMV-chip card and MSR support, multi-user capability and reporting features via an online web companion portal, among other features. The U.S. is in the process of transitioning to EMV-chip payment cards, which are designed to be resistant to counterfeiting.
"AprivaPay Plus complements our existing suite of mobile solutions by giving our merchants the tools needed to offer a cutting-edge mobile solution, designed to provide the transaction security EMV affords," said Frank Young, Global Payments senior vice president, in an Aug. 25 news release.
