Barclaycard U.S. Taps New Execs for Payments Business

Barclaycard U.S. has hired a new chief financial officer and chief marketing officer to its executive team.

Barclays appointed Gerald Pavelich as a chief financial officer and Peggy Maher as a chief marketing officer, the Wilimington, Del.-based payments business of Barclays announced Sept. 26.

Pavelich, a former CFO with CUNA Mutual Group, will report to Barclaycard U.S. chief executive Amer Sajed and chief financial officer Philip McHugh. Pavelich joins the global Barclaycard CFO operating committee and the Barclaycard U.S. executive committee.

Maher, a former American Express Co. vice president, will also report to Sajed and Nina Bibby, Barclaycard's global CMO in London. She also joins the U.S. executive committee and Barclaycard global marketing leadership team.

Pavelich was responsible for rebuilding CUNA Mutual Group’s capital to record levels, Barclays stated. He also spent eight years with Citigroup—most recently as CFO for Citibank North America. Before joining Citibank, Pavelich spent 21 years at GE Capital where he held several executive-level finance positions.

Maher joins Barclaycard U.S. after 25 years with American Express. Most recently, she served as senior vice president of International Marketing Capabilities and Customer Advocacy, where she was responsible for consumer and business card marketing capabilities in 22 international markets, Barclays stated.
