Citibank Philippines Issuing Cobranded Airline Card With Cebu Pacific

To increase its subscriber base of frequent travelers, Citibank Philippines is teaming with the country’s largest national airline Cebu Pacific Ltd. to launch a cobranded credit card.

Citibank designed the Cebu Pacific Citibank card primarily for Cebu Pacific travelers. The bank will offer consumers a one-way ticket to international or domestic destinations as a gift when they successfully apply for a card before Oct. 15. Afterward, successful applicants will receive a free trip to locations such as Bangkok, Shanghai, Singapore or Taipei, a Citi customer service representative tells PaymentsSource.

Citibank also will offer cardholders notifications of seat sales at least two hours before they become available to the public, he adds, noting seat sales on Cebu Pacific are popular and will help drive interest in subscribing for the card. In addition, the card will come with a reward program in which cardholders will receive one reward point per peso they spend with their cards.

“Cardholders can redeem accumulated card points for a Cebu Pacific e-voucher,” the representative says. “These vouchers can be redeemed via an online facility exclusive to cardholders for any fare regardless of date or destination.”

Applicants must earn minimum of 250,000 pesos (US$5,872 or 4,050 euros) per year to qualify, the representative says. They pay 2,800 pesos annually for the principal card and 1,400 pesos per year for a secondary card. Both fees are waived the first year, he says.
