The U.K. is the latest market where eBay will assume direct control of its payments experience, as part of its prolonged breakup with PayPal.
EBay is taking over direct management of eBay payments in the U.K., following similar moves in the U.S. and Germany, eBay said in a Wednesday press release.
Beginning this summer, eBay will offer U.K. buyers payment options including credit cards, Google Pay and PayPal through all channels, with support for Apple Pay available only on iPhone and iPad, the release said.
When eBay and PayPal split in 2015, they agreed to wind down their collaboration gradually through a five-year operating agreement in which eBay would intermediate its own payments. That agreement expires in July 2020, though eBay and PayPal will retain a strategic connection, PayPal
