Fidelity National Information Services on Sept. 19 confirmed it was the cause of the Sept. 16 shutdown of payments and ATM access at Co-op Financial Services and numerous bank systems across the country (
“FIS experienced a brief processing disruption involving a small number of its payment systems, which impacted a select number of clients,” said Marcia Danzeisen, the company’s senior vice president, global marketing and communications. “All processing returned to normal on Friday.”
The outage affected credit and debit card and ATM transactions all across the country on the credit union-owned Co-op system, starting around noon Pacific Time and ending around 6:30 p.m.
Officials with Co-op wanted to emphasize it was not a credit union issue but one that was caused by FIS, its processor, and affected banks, too.
