China's largest telecom technology testing laboratory plans to use a Fime tool to strengthen the country's mobile security.
French technology consultant and certifier Fime will provide its Global Device platform to test Chinese trusted execution environment devices for the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.
Global Device specifications help standardize the trusted execution environment, a secure area of the main processor in a smartphone or any connected device. In turn, it supports secure services for mobile and online payments, biometric authentication and premium content protection in China.
The technology offers protection against software attacks, assists in control of access rights and houses sensitive applications.
“More sensitive services are going mobile and China, like the rest of the world, is looking for ways to protect the content and data of its service providers and end users,” Arnaud Peninon, vice president of Global Laboratories at Fime, said in a Nov. 9 press release. The platform's TEE specifications are "quickly becoming a requirement for handset and chip manufacturers, and tools like Global Device are essential to the worldwide interoperability of the technology," Peninon added.
Fime works with payment, telecom, transit and identity sectors, operating as a services partner for customers using contact and contactless EMV, Near Field Communication, Host Card Emulation, trusted service manager and trusted execution environment technologies.
