GE Money plans to launch credit cards in New Zealand, Greg White, managing director for GE Money New Zealand, tells CardLine Global. He declines to detail when the launch will occur or with whom GE Money will partner. The recent agreement between the country's commerce commission and Visa Inc. and MasterCard Worldwide (CardLine Global, 26 Aug.) that restricts credit card interchange rates and allows merchant surcharges for card transactions "opens the door for us," he says.  GE Money decided to "stay out of the segment until the proceedings against the schemes were concluded," White adds. GE Money already issues credit cards in Australia.
