Transactions made at independent sales organizations processing with Global Payments Inc. grew 15% in the processor's third quarter ended Feb. 28, Paul R. Garcia, chairman and CEO of the Atlanta-based processor, told analysts this week during a call about the third-quarter results. Global Payments did not release the total number of transactions for the quarter.  "We are seeing some pretty strong transaction growth in the United States, primarily driven by our ISOs," Garcia told analysts. Acknowledging that the growth in transactions masks some ill effects of the economy, Garcia said the processor is seeing reductions in average transaction amounts and some slow down in same-store sales. "The reality is this economy is impacting us in the United States pretty profoundly," he said.
