JetPay LLC, a Carrollton, Texas-based payment processor, says it has won a trademark-infringement issue involving its Web site address,
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the organization overseeing Web site address protocols, ruled in January that Canada-based JetyPayments no longer may use
JetPay, which had owned its domain name since 2000, discovered the competitor’s similar Web site late last year and asked JetyPayments to stop using it. Having received no response, JetPay pursued the issue with the overseer of Web domain names.
“I contacted JetyPay personally to try and resolve this matter appropriately,” Trent Voigt, JetPay chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “Unfortunately, I did not receive a positive response.”
JetyPay did not respond to the Web organization’s requests either, according to the organization’s ruling. JetyPay.com now redirects to JetPay’s Web site. The decision, made by an arbitrator, is final.
Attempts to locate JetyPay were not successful, and a JetPay representative was not immediately available.
