Klarna Checkout Adds Amex Support

Klarna—a receive-now pay-later company—has added American Express to its supported payment methods in Sweden, Finland, Germany and the United States, as of Thursday, the company announced.

Amex joins MasterCard and Visa as supported brand options.

The move isn't surprising given that Klarna hired a senior Amex exec as its chief commercial officer earlier this summer.

“Klarna can roll out a payment method across several markets without requiring additional integration or contracts for our merchants,” said Sebastian Siemiatkowski, co-founder and CEO of Klarna.

Klarna also said that it planned to enable SafeKey 3D secure for American Express transactions.
