MasterCard Appoints Brian Lang as President of Canadian Business

MasterCard Canada will have a new president on May 1.

The Purchase, N.Y. card network named Brian Lang to this role, where he will be responsible for growing the unit's business by introducing new technology and product offerings. Lang will succeed Betty DeVita, who will become chief commercial officer of MasterCard Labs in New York.

Lang was most recently the head of business development for MasterCard in the Middle East and Africa, where he expanded card acceptance in Egypt, Nigeria and Pakistan. Additionally, he established wallet platforms in United Arab Emirates and South Africa.

"Brian has a deep understanding of the Canadian market and the payments industry with a long track record of success in serving customers around the world," Chris McWilton, president of the North American markets for MasterCard, said in a March 16 news release. "He will continue to deliver growth and differentiate MasterCard as we expand and launch new payment technologies in the market."
