Epson, a supplier of value-added banking and payment hardware
solutions, announced that Metavante, a provider of banking and payments
technologies to over 8,000 financial services firms and businesses
worldwide, has certified the Epson CaptureOne check scanner for its
Direct Merchant remote deposit capture (RDC) application, and plans to
certify its SendPoint Merchant application for CaptureOne in early 2009.
Epson said the solutions enable merchants to clear checks directly at
store locations without delivering checks to the bank for deposit. With
the addition of CaptureOne, Metavante provides financial and commercial
institutions with highly-reliable RDC scanning solutions that
streamline operations, reduce processing costs and improve overall
productivity. CaptureOne will be available with the Direct Merchant
licensed application after October 31, the company noted.
"We've enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Epson, and we're
impressed with the CaptureOne product," said Paul Danola, president of
Metavante Image Solutions. "We wanted as few MICR misreads as possible,
and Epson's CaptureOne delivered."
Metavante's DirectMerchant is a licensed in-house merchant capture
solution that allows a financial institution's commercial clients to
capture and electronically deliver payments directly to the bank. Built
on the DirectMerchant product, SendPoint Merchant is an outsourced,
Software-as-a-Service merchant capture solution offering commercial
clients a cost-effective alternative to acquiring, installing and
managing on-site merchant capture technology.
