National Australia Bank plans to deploy contactless-payment terminals at more than 500 Melbourne-based merchant locations by 1 Oct. and to at least 2,000 more merchant locations by the end of the year, a spokesperson for the Australia-based financial institution tells CardLine Global. The terminals will accept MasterCard's PayPass and Visa's payWave contactless cards, the spokesperson says. PayPass transactions generally will require no signatures for purchases of less than AU$35 (US$31 or 21 euros), the spokesperson says. The spokesperson says the no-signature limit for payWave transactions is AU$100.
